Wouldn’t it be nice to press reset sometimes?! Reset your body from all the alcohol, fatty foods and unprocessed foods you consume. I certainly do! Working in the food industry and running a blog, I tend to eat all the time. I need it for content. And let’s face it– a vibrant salad or fruit bowl does not equal likes or views. So the type of foods I consume range from pizza and burgers to cheese fries and ramen. I mean, they’re DELICIOUS, but they’re not the type of foods that will put the ‘fash’ in foodie.
So, every now and then to reset my mind and body, I do a cleanse. Specifically, I do a three-day cleanse with Jus by Julie. I’ve done cleanses with other companies, but below I’ll explain why I cleanse, what to expect and why I choose Jus by Julie—
REASON 1: Timing
If you’re about to embark on a cleanse, you should be realistic about your lifestyle and the timing of the cleanse. Jus by Julie sends freshly pressed juices next day because it’s freshly pressed juices, duh…but also because they understand you need to start at your allotted timeframe. There’s a lot of planning involved since you have to prep by eating clean foods, no alcohol or caffeine. Technically you can have those things beforehand, but it will definitely make the cleanse harder because those things cause dehydration and sugar (which equals glucose, fat and hunger).
REASON 2: Jus Options
I’ve honestly had juices that were incredibly pressed. I mean, that’s definitely the point and great, but you want to feel satisfied and have a mix of options for a meal replacement. I’m not an expert by any means, but I would assume the thicker juices are able to hold more nutrients that your body still needs while cleansing. With my recent order, I received a perfect mix of straight detoxifying blends like their Spicy Lemonade, which had a nice kick and thicker fulfilling options like my new favorite PJ & Jus—this one was so good, I might have to order it alone for midday cravings. It tasted like a PB&J, but healthier by substituting jam with strawberries and banana– deeeeelish!
REASON 3: Results
There are some parts of juicing you should know–as you clean your body, you’ll likely start to rid of toxins–yes, ‘rid’, aka elimination. Everyone’s body reacts differently, but I would say in general if you’re going for a 3-day-cleanse, full juice–this is very likely. However, on the flip side-you’ll start to gain MORE energy and will see weight loss results. Those are the perks and reason you’re doing this, remember?
REASON 4: An Excuse Not To Drink
Sometimes I feel like a first time vegetarian or vegan. You know, those people who always have to exclaim that they’re a vegetarian or vegan because they’re so proud. That’s me! ‘Sorry, I’m not drinking right now, I’m juicing!’ It’s such a great excuse to take a break from drinking. New York is so social that we end up drinking ALL THE TIME, so it’s nice to have a reason to not drink for a minute. I usually pack a Jus with me and pour it into a glass to avoid people asking why I’m not drinking. They don’t really have to know.
REASON 5: Post Jus
After I’ve already taken a ‘time out’ from heavy food and drinking, even for just a couple days, I feel drastically different. It’s actually a lot of effort to solely drink juice for 3 days. You’ll be surprised to learn how many activities revolve around food and drinks. Even if it’s a quiet night home cooking with your beau. So even 3 days, plus prep, is a conscious effort. Therefore, if you did it–yay! And you want to maintain that feeling and clean eating regime. So continue the path and you’ll stay successful. But if you stray, at least you know there’s more Jus available at your fingertips.
