90’s Babies Rejoice! 90’s Fest is Coming Back, and it’s Bigger and Better Than Before
You may have heard whisperings of a 90’s festival that took place in Brooklyn last year. It included sets from popular nostalgic bands and musicians like Salt-N-Pepa, Coolio, Lisa Loeb and Smash Mouth. They also had tons of food trucks, 90’s themed drinks like mimosas made with Sunny D and plenty of nostalgia fare like a chance to spend time in Clarissa’s room (From “Clarissa Explains it All”), dancing lobsters and a good ol’ fashioned sliming. They even had a pop-up market with throwback clothes and accessories!
If this all sounds like a dream come true, get even more excited because they’re coming back full force. Now in a new large and in-charge location, Governer’s Island, this years fest is hosted by Pauly Shore (of not-so-90’s Jersey Shore fame), and features acts from Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, C&C Music Factory, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Sister Hazel, and Sugar Ray. Guests can join in on Jazzercise workouts, throwback video games, and even chil in the sand and palm trees in their Bae-watch Lounge.
In addition, taking a cue from Mountain Dew, some of our favorite 90’s shows will be coming to life! There will be challenges from Double Dare, GUTS, and Legends of the Hidden Temple. And they even promise visits from “beloved Nickelodeon characters”.
Like last year, there will again be a 90’s market full of swag to bag, including bucket hats, flannels candies and more, and the best dressed among us can even win a Y2K Survival Kit (so you can prep for the millennium, duh!) and a backstage pass to meet and mingle with the performers. Most importantly, THERE WILL BE SLIME.
So get ready, get set, its 90’s Fest!
