We’d like to take a minute to talk about Miami. The weather, the food, the fashion… three of the best things about this city. A few days ago we ventured into the ever changing design district. After Prada popped up we’re starting to think the rumors might be true… are Louis Vuitton and Hermés really buying warehouse space in the area? After an hour of wondering in and out of store fronts we decided it was time to get our grub on. So of course we walked directly into Michael’s Genuine. Best.food.ever. And we’re not just saying that because we get to sit outside on a random Tuesday afternoon when the weather is a perfect 73˚ and sunny. We’re saying that because their pastrami sandwich is to die for. After our first bite we realized this is what heaven might taste like, if heaven was a shredded, greasy, medium rare piece of beef. The atmosphere has a laid back laissez-faire type of feel. Situated between trendy boutiques and a traffic free street, it’s the perfect location to sit for hours and eat, drink, and be merry.
We ordered the Homemade Pastrami Sandwich on grilled ciabatta, with cave aged gruyere cheese, red cabbage slaw, and thousand island dressing. And the Falafel Wrap on homemade flatbread, with hummas, heirloom tomatoes, cucumber tabouli & tahini. Both with homemade french fries. Each sandwich was made to perfection. The pastrami was delicately shredded, cooked medium rare, and dripping with natural au jus, the sauerkraut was incredible, homemade and that perfect purplish color that would make any amethyst jealous. The falafel wrap took us back to our days in Israel, where you could order the best falafels from a guy on the side of the street with a cart that held boiling oil and fresh greens. Each bite seemed to get better, how that was possible, we’ll never know. But Michael, your the full package, and we can’t wait to go back.
