Color Outside The Lines Event for LilySarahGrace Foundation
We arrived a little late to the LilySarahGrace Gala and was immediately greeted by the mesmerizing performance by Rufus Wainwright singing his late friend Jeff Buckley’s hit Hallelujah. The stark white room at Jack Studios provided the perfect backdrop to the performance, allowing everyone to concentrate on Wainwright and his piano.
The event continued after a couple performances and moved to a back room to reveal original paintings from the kickstarter, “Color Outside the Lines,” a fundraising campaign around original drawings from more than 40 artists in film, television, music and visual art that were specially created for LSG. As part of “Color Outside the Lines,” LSG has launched a Kickstarter campaign to publish these one-of-a-kind drawings into a book, titled You Can’t Memorize This.
LSG provides underfunded schools with supplies and educational tools to teach their curriculum through the arts. At the event, Whoopi Goldberg, Charles Best and Hans Tullman were honored for their significant contributions and dedication to arts education.
Guests were allowed to show off their creativity by drawing on the original paintings by ‘Coloring Outside the Lines’ themselves. A fun, interactive way to engage with attendees. After imbibing, drawing, and checking out the items that were on sale to raise money for the charity, DJ Andy Rourke from The Smiths took the stage and got everyone moving on the dance floor.
A great evening, for an even great cause.
