Hubba! Hubba! Forget all the lovey dovey stuff for Valentine’s Day, I have the hots for some sexy buns in New York. By buns, I mean HAMBURGER buns (for the most part) at top restaurants in the city. Biting into a juicy burger is one of my favorite dining experiences, (I know, I’m weird), but who doesn’t love a good burger. It’s like not liking America or puppies or something odd. Either way, check out one of these restaurants that set off my cravings.
In collaboration with Top Chef season 6 winner Michael Voltaggio, Umami (Oh Mommy!) created this Monte Cristo-inspired burger. Whatever inspired this bun soaked in custard and then deep-fried, is then filled with Gruyere fondue, their house burger-blend, and prosciutto with a side of maple syrup and a dusting of powdered sugar.. well, keep it coming!
Le Rivage chef Paul Denamiel opened his new eatery The Little Prince in SoHo last year, and we’re so glad he did! I first met the chef/owner at an event called Grill Hampton in the Hamptons (mark your calendars) and hello lovah, feed me Prince’s off-menu French onion soup burger, and I’m all yours. Available if you ask for it, the rare patty is served on an English muffin and topped with caramelized onions, Bechamel and Gruyere cheese. Bon Jour!
Not to sound sexual, but a bone-in burger.. I mean, come on! The M. Wells Steakhouse flavorful burger is slightly genius with brisket, grass-fed top round, and edged trimmings, all topped with a mix of tartar, shallot sauce and a brioche bun.
Chef Harold Moore’s Commerce burger. I repeat, Commerce burger at the acclaimed West Village restaurant is so savory and simple, yet perfect in every way. Although people say, there’s no such thing as perfect, I challenge them to taste this burger. I would have a full relationship with this guy.. I mean, burger! I also tasted this burger at Grill Hampton since the chef uses beef from their sponsor Pat LaFrieda. Using doughy and squishy fresh-baked rolls, homemade pickles (secret recipe), American cheese, red onions and tomatoes, this tasty delight is heaven in my mouth. It’s so special, it’s only available Friday’s and Saturdays!
