We kinda love cheese. Like eat it for breakfast with our omelets, lunch with our sandwiches and dinner with our salads love cheese. We love cheese so much that you could call it our main course and everything else our side dishes. We love cheese so much that when we heard of a restaurant called The Cheese Course we fast walked slash slightly jogged over on our lunch break to indulge ourselves with a little leisurely lunch where the main focus was on cheese. And O.M.G. CHEESE. There was over a hundred types of cheese to choose from. As we feasted our eyes on golden cheese, copper cheese, pure sunshine yellow cheese we realized there was no way we were ever going to be able to choose.
As we took in the overwhelmingly amount of cheese offerings, our eyes wandered to the wall across from the counter where you order. And lo and behold there was a menu, a menu with over 30 different items, sandwiches, salads, quiches… how were we ever going to choose? But we did, and we chose well, because each item literally blew our cheese dreams away.
Check out our orders below:
#7 PROSCIUTTO DI PARMA SANDWICH w/ fresh Mozzarella, tomatoes, fresh basil, extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar.
The prosciutto was fresh, fresh, fresh. Like just killed yesterday, sliced today fresh. The mozzarella was chilled, as were the tomatoes. Have you ever bitten into a fresh prosciutto sandwich on white french bread with chilled mozzarella cheese? Because if you haven’t it should be on your bucket list. Your taste buds will explode with flavor. The chillness of the cheese and the tomatoes add to the warmth of the freshly baked bread and prosciutto, while the vinegar adds a sort of tang to every bite. One word, delish.
#11 WHITE MEAT CHICKEN SALAD SANDWICH w/ Asiago Fresca, diced Granny Smith apples, golden raisins, pine nuts, fresh basil, mayonnaise and greens.
This sandwich was filled proportionally to the toasted ciabatta bread it was on. I’m not sure about you, but I always feel like chicken salad sandwiches can go either way. Either the salad is falling out all over the place, or its diced and sits perfectly upon your chosen bread. This was definitely the latter. So you have your chicken salad, mixed with granny apples, raisins and pine nuts, that is sitting nicely upon your toasted ciabatta, with a thick slice of asiago fresca underneath. Quite possibly perfection.
#23 SPANISH FIELD GREENS w/ Manchego, orange slices, red onion, oil cured black olives, honey-tarragon vinaigrette and fresh bread.
Onto the salad. This is one of our favorite salads because if Manchego was single, and a man, we might just marry it. The orange slices are the best part of this delectable salad. They sit atop the field greens sliced and juicy. And you can add any type of meat or fish to this salad. We like that about a salad. It’s not fickle or picky. It’ll take anything. Chicken, smoked salmon, prosciutto, steak… whatever your taste buds are currently craving.
All in all The Cheese Course does have a slight cheesy smell to it, but if you sit outside you’re golden. Just like a fresh piece of Gouda.
