We’re stepping out (literally) with street wear styles, so sneakerheads pay attention, because we’re talking snapbacks, graphic tees and everything in between. You might want to find your tattered pair of ripped jeans and get cozy because this might take a minute.
Kicking off the trend with the seasons’ it sneaker was Isabel Marant Perkins with a feminine meets edgy look that had fashionistas sighing in relief to the thought of dressing up and not actually having to worry about 6’ stilettos. Don’t get us wrong, we love our heels. We’ll cuddle with a sexy new pair of heels any day, but if we can look good AND feel comfortable… well damn, sign us up! Sneaker wedges definitely paved the way for ladies to rock a hip style this year across the board—thank you Isabel Marant!
Our favorite variation of the shoe had to be the ‘Dunk Sky Hi’ by Nike, which comes in all flavors of lovely (which could easily be a new Ben & Jerry’s scoop). We had hearts in our eyes when we saw the stunning cherry red enter Nordstrom stores—true it could’ve been the reflection from the shoe, but nonetheless we need them in our lives.
Another fun take on the shoe comes in a package of five to emphasize top cities including London, Milan, New York, Paris and Tokyo. The city sneaker collection is kind of genius. It highlights the best attributes and nostalgic elements of each city. Our favorite has to be London, with the crocodile leather and gold accompaniments, but since we’re newbies to the city, we have to give daps to the New York pair that scream sleek and edgy, which matches the style here to perfection—think grey city streets and black errthang.
If you’re a lady who enjoys ol’ skool jams, channel our inner hip hop and rock some Jordan 3s, which has become more acceptable for the ‘it’ girl because of the sneaker wedge. To give you a little background of the iconic and simplistic shoe – Jordan won the All Star MVP the year it was launched in 1988, which made it über popular. It was also the first of his shoes that was created by legendary footwear designer Tinker Hatfeld. We’re not here to give you a history lesson, but we wouldn’t mind walking in the shoes of an MVP.
Personally, we’re converse gals—throw on our sneaks, get em’ roughed up and who cares! We promise we only treat our converse like that. A majority of our travels always include our black cons, which came to multiple music festivals with us and hiked the hills and mountains in Israel. Hmm, speaking of all that walking, we think we’re due for a new pair soon. Maybe our next post will include a shiny new pair of sneaks. Stay tuned and keep kickin.’
