The moment is finally here! You’ve cut back on calories, added a couple extra exercises to your gym routine and picked out your clothes for the week as if it’s your first day of school. Yup, New York Fashion Week has arrived! I can see the bulbs flashing from here!! As if NYFW was just announced yesterday, we scramble to make last minute appointments for nails, makeup, hair and even alternations to look ‘red- carpet ready.’ We sift through multiple magazines and rip out pages to duplicate certain looks from makeup to shoes. Trying to achieve a certain ‘effortless’ look like Jennifer Aniston or Kate Hudson, we book appointments, but typically don’t know where to begin.
Consider today your lucky day and your chance to walk in Jennifer Aniston and Kate Hudson’s shoes (Brian Atwoods please), because we have tips from their stylists to help you achieve the same look. Next time you stand on a step-and-repeat, you’ll be putting the ‘red’ in red carpet, and we all know red also means ‘hot’ and ‘stop’ (to look at me).’
Almay Global Brand Ambassador Kate Hudson wore an edgy, structured Balmain dress and a stunning makeup look to a recent preview. Inspired by the texture and drama of the dress, makeup artist Melanie Inglessiscreated a strong, smoky eye look with a youthful dewy glow for Hudson.
Rock and roll meets feminine look to reflect both the dress and Kate’s feminine and strong personality
“With a bold, smoky eye everything else has to be simple, so I wanted her face to look fresh and dewy with beautiful sun kissed cheekbones. I then focused on her eyes and built a deep smoky look by continuously blending the eyeliner, primer and shadow. I coated the top and bottom lashes twice with mascara to add a little more drama and complete the smoky eye. I kept the lip simple with a pale pink to pull the look together and really draw attention to the eyes.”
Inglessis used the following products for Kate’s red carpet look:

“This is quintessential Jen. Her hair looks natural, and touchable. This look allows the hair to have movement and still look great all night. First, I washed the hair with Living Proof Full Shampoo and Conditioner. I then applied Prime Style Extender to wet hair and massaged through for a lasting style. Before drying the hair I applied a few small drops of Satin to the ends to keep it looking shiny and avoid flyaways. Then, using a large round brush, I blew out the hair straight with a deep, side bang. Finally, I applied Flex Hairspray to the roots for height and body and lightly sprayed the rest of the hair for a lasting hold.”
Living Proof Shampoo ($24), Full Conditioner ($24), Prime Style Extender ($20), Satin Hair Serum ($29), Flex Shaping Hairspray ($24).
