This weekend we had a chance to attend Dan’s Taste of Summer’s closing event of the season with the 6th Annual Harvest East End with Co-Host of Food Network’s The Kitchen and Judge of Chopped Geoffrey Zakarian.

If you’re unfamiliar with Dan’s Taste of Summer events, they’re sprinkled with ‘foodie’ events in the Hamptons and Long Island and features themed events with Grillhampton (a grill-off between NYC and Hamptons chefs), Taste of Two Forks (..a taste of both Forks, dun) and the last event with Harvest East End (wine tasting).

The event this past weekend took place at McCall Vineyards and Ranch (22600 Main Road, Cutchogue, NY) and featured more than 40 wineries and restaurants, which was a great way to taste some of the best local Long Island wines without having to hire a driver to go vineyard-to-vineyard (which will also be a fun trip sometime). But, I would never be able to travel from Wölffer Estate to Channing Daughters Winery in one trip. To give you an idea of my tour de winery, (all under one tent), here’s a list of some of the other wineries featured at the event: Anthony Nappa Wines, Baiting Hollow Farm Vineyard, Bedell Cellars, Brooklyn Oenology, Channing Daughters Winery, Clovis Point Vineyards, Coffee Pot Cellars, Croteaux, Diliberto Winery, Duck Walk Vineyards, Harbes Vineyard, Jamesport Vineyards, Jason’s Vineyard, Kontokosta Winery, Lieb Cellars, Macari Vineyards and Winery, Martha Clara Vineyards, Mattebella Vineyards, McCall Vineyard and Ranch.. plus so many more.
The wine was fantastic, like truly, each one vineyard showcased a special grape and since it’s all local the options were extremely fresh. It’s also really impressive to talk to the winemakers and winery owners themselves to hear their passion behind their product and to learn tasting notes. To enhance the wine tasting experience further, approximately 30 restaurant served samples of food from oysters Rockefeller to freshly shucked oysters, tuna tartare and a my favorite– a table full of cheese, (yea, I might’ve passed by the cheese table a couple times).
Oh and these were amazing!!
And obviously these are my all time freaking favorite from child hood. Definitely had about three rainbow cookies!
To conclude, I left full and happy. A great way to end my Hamptons/ Long Island season. -Elana Levin
