Grab your Sombrero and head on over to these Fiestas on Cinco de Mayo!
Rocco’s Tacos 1313 E Las Olas Blvd, Fort Lauderdale, FL | 954.524.9550
You don’t have to run South of the Border to celebrate the true spirit of Mexico when Roccos Tacos is in your neighborhood. The Tequila Bar, yes we said TEQUILA BAR, offers over 225 varieties of the spirit to be mixed or taken’ straight up (with lime of course, you know the drill). While you’re drinking… we mean celebrating… enjoy some signature offerings such as a spicy (you know we like it hot) Jalapeño Rellenos, fried to perfection filled with melt-in your mouth cotija cheese, zesty lime crema and a creamy avocado ranch dipping sauce. Classic Enchiladasare always an option; filled with a rich mole poblano sauce and pulled chicken breast, amongst other meats and fillings.
The fiesta starts at noon with free tequila pours throughout the day, contests, giveaways and Pancho Villas mariachi bands, Djs and more. Rocco is also giving away his secret signature margarita recipe so you can enjoy at home (sh!).
Rocco’s Tacos Magarita:
2.5oz Milagros Silver Tequila
1.5 oz Triple Sec
4 oz Fresh Sour Mix
Salt Rim, Shake Well, Pour over ice, Garnish with a lime
Radio Bar 814 1st Street, Miami Beach | 305. 397.8382
Pop-up-turned-permanent-and-awesome Radio Bar in the popular South of Fifth Neighborhood in Miami is giving imbibers 5 extra hours of drinking time as they open their doors at 1p.m. Expect James Beard nominee Craig Schoettler’s cocktails to stir things up with drink specials all day, themed games like ‘cactus ring toss,’ an adult piñata (our dream game), and a drinking version of pin the tail on the donkey. While playing, don’t forget mustache party favors while enjoying a live DJ and other performances.
Cocktails we’d like to try at Radio Bar:
Rum, Strawberry, Mint, Lime, Ginger Beer
Vodka, Grapefruit, Lime, St. Germain, Soda Water
Commander:(maybe two of these to properly celebrate Cinco de Mayo)
It’s not Mexican, but if we were to choose a luxury taco to indulge on Cinco de Mayo, we would head over to De Rodriguez Cuba for his infamous Smoked Marlin Tacos. Aside from them being marinated in rum (we know, yum!) the restaurant has recently been awarded with a AAA 4 Diamond Award for Latin Cuisine, Which makes the James Beard Award Winning chefs the king of Latin cuisine.
Now back to the taco… the marlin is marinated in rum and smoked to give it a rich infused BBQ flavor, then served on a crispy Malanga shell. Throw in Chef Rodriguez’s infamous ceviche and we’ll be having a serious Cinco de Mayo celebration.
