Here at Fashfoodies, we like to be at the forefront of all types of events from fashion and food, to film and lifestyle. We want to be all encompassing so we can showcase the best of best, and what to expect for events so you can look forward to attending some in the future. Events to us aren’t solely food events, it’s anything that pertains to life! A rooftop party is just as eventful, as a tasting with Tom Colicchio sometimes.. SOMETIMES! Most of the time, these big events are pretty impressive.
Such as the kick-off event for Sustainable Seafood Week called Sustainable Seafood Shindig, which was thrown byTom Colicchio who really knows how to throw a Great Shindig: Sustainable Seafood Week. Sustainable Seafood Shindigwas exactly how it sounds— a shindig with sustainable seafood. And it was quite the shindig indeed! The event hosted by Tom Colicchio & Sisha Ortúzar with the Crafted Hospitality Team, consisted of an all-star lineup of chefs, including: April Bloomfield, Marco Canora, David Chang, Kerry Heffernan, Anita Lo, Rick Moonen, Dave Pasternack and Bill Telepan for the ultimate dining experience..ever! Pleasure to meet you all. Dinner at my house next time?
The event started with Guest Speaker Author Paul Greenberg with a VIP introduction to the festivities, as well as an explanation of the cause, which was to celebrate the efforts of responsible fishermen and seafood farms. If anyone knows about responsible fishing or fishing in general, it’s Paul Greenberg who is the author of the James Beard Award winning New York Times bestseller Four Fish. Wish I brought my book. During his speech, guests were invited to sip cocktails created by mixology bar Evelyn Drinkery, a variety of wines or craft beer. They also had passed hors d’oeuvres with everything from Oysters Rockefeller to puff pastries from canapés and clams and oysters on the half shell. It consisted of a dine-around concept, which is more intimate and extremely unique. Basically, attendees were invited to sit at a table with celebrity chefs who prepared dishes to a table of 10! When else can you sit in front of April Bloomfield or David Chang and have them explain details about sustainable seafood and teach diners about various fish and the dish they prepared. This quite literally had to be one of the best foodie events I have ever attended.
April Bloomfield and Dave Pasternack’s Scup Station. April loves her fried food.. even if it’s sustainable and seafood.
Dave Pasternack the fisherman of the century, goofing around.
David Chang making me a delicious scallop dish. Thank you! Light and refreshing. His station was shared with Top Chef Kerry Heffernan and opening chef of Eleven Madison.
The stations were assigned to dining guests who were required to sit at their designated station at a certain time. My Scup sitting was scheduled for 8:30p. While I waited, I was welcome to enjoy passed hors appetizers, cocktails at the bar and and a raw bar with a variety of oysters.. This is literally heaven.
The dine-around stations with Dave Pasternack and April Bloomfield.
Bill Telepan preparing a dish for his dining guests.
This even really left me with a good taste in my mouth literally and a new appreciation for fisherman and sustainable seafood. Basically these chefs are thoroughly respecting fish and their territory. Right on chefs!
