It’s easy to get distracted by all the glitz and glamour of Art Basel Events with all invitation-only soirées buzzing with celebrities, jet setters, and tastemakers that we forget about the actual art. Originating in Basel, Switzerland in 1970, the city has been essential to the growing success of the art shows that have now expanded to Miami Beach and Hong Kong. Premiering in Miami Beach with artwork from across the globe, over 250 of the world’s leading galleries congregate to showcase their works at various locations throughout the city. With galleries showing work from top artists of Modern and contemporary art, as well as emerging stars, sculptures, installations, photography, film, plus more, the remarkable creations are a treat to the 50,000 international visitors on the sandy beaches. What: Mr Brainwash teams up with Gale Hotel to showcase his pop-art collection. The 87-room boutique hotel will become host to multiple large-scale, custom oil paintings as well as an exterior wallscape highlighting Mr. Brainwash’s traditional yet out-of-the-box uses of familiar popular culture images and bright colors. There will also be surprises unique to the guests staying at the hotel as well as throughout the property.

What: The 9th annual PULSE Art Fair brings together contemporary art exhibitors, along with the new PULSE Play video series and PULSE Projects which are interactive art installations.

What: In 2012, more than 250 galleries representing 31 countries, from North America, Latin America, Europe, Asia and Africa, exhibited at our show in Miami Beach. There are seven show sectors: Galleries, Nova, Positions, Kabinett, Public, Video and Magazines. What: Walter Otero, the respected gallerist who is considered the leading authority on contemporary art in Puerto Rico, will host his 2nd annual Art Basel event at Bass Museum of Art in Miami Beach. Founder of the prestigious Walter Otero Contemporary Art in San Juan, Puerto Rico, the San Juan-based Otero presents an impressive cadre of talent, including sculptor/performance artists Allora & Calzadilla, who represented the U.S. in the 54th Venice Biennale (2011); painter Arnaldo Roche; and Miami-based multi-disciplinary artist Carlos Betancourt.
UNTITLED Fair VIP Preview hosted by Marina Abramovic
What: The UNTITLED Fair returns for the second year with a VIP preview of its 94 exhibitors hosted by performance artist Marina Abramovic. The preview will benefit the Marina Abramovic Institute as well as the Elton John AIDS Foundation.
